Meet Marielle, Co-Owner
MA, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), she/her
We all want to live meaningful lives. Seeking help is a brave step in that direction, and I'm so glad you're here! We will work well together if you want to get to know yourself and your brain better so you can face what life has thrown your way, whether that’s anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, or something else. In our sessions, we’ll explore and process your experiences, learn ways to be more present in your life, teach your brain new ways of being, and even laugh together as you heal and grow.
You are a whole person with a story worth telling, and I see counseling as a partnership that requires me to build a trusting relationship with you, so I strive to be fully present and bring my authentic self to each session. This is at the center of my therapeutic approach because I believe that we heal through relationship, whether with ourselves, our partner, or other loved ones. I am formally trained in integrative therapy techniques, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for anxiety and OCD, and other modalities to help you align your response to challenges with your values.
Our struggles impact our brains’ ability to process experiences, and I believe that forming stronger relationships with ourselves deepens our capacity to meaningfully connect with other people. After 13 years teaching high school English, I realized that my passion all along had been teaching people to know themselves better and use their innate resilience to feel more in control of life. This realization, along with witnessing the power of good therapy first-hand after experiencing postpartum anxiety/OCD led me to become a therapist. I am a fierce advocate for social justice, and I believe in the innate value of all people. Because of this, I counsel from a humanistic perspective that uses science-based practices to help you examine where core beliefs may have come from with compassion and work together to challenge beliefs that may be holding you back so you can move beyond them and embody your values in all that you do.
I look forward to hearing your story and walking alongside you in your journey toward living each day with self-compassion and purpose.
When I’m Not Counseling…
you can find me reading (especially historical novels); learning new tricks at aerial yoga; singing and recording music; or hiking with my husband, daughter, and our two rescue dogs. I love autumn, red pandas, and almost every Broadway musical.
